Why does it seem that earthquakes and volcanoes are happening more frequently lately.?

I've been on this earth for 24 years. As far as i can remember, I've never seen it this bad. I've always like watching the news since i was a kid. So i remember all the big ones. People say, it is just because we have been paying more attention and there's more media coverage. Well there has always been media coverage and we've always been paying a attention. Is that these disasters are just more powerful and deadly. Just in the past 2 0r 3 days, the volcano under the pacific ocean erupted, volcano in Ecuador erupted and volcano in Guatemala erupted recently. Just seems like everything is firing up at the same time.
