False Positive Culture, a myth? Long question but i swear you'll be telling your friends about this one?

About a year ago, i had a blister like sore on my perineum (the area between my l opening and ...beautiful description, i know) ... After , i noticed that i would sometimes have some burning in that area depending on the ual position. This time, i looked in a mirror to find what was causing this discomfort. i didnt like the small barely visible "blister" i had seen and went to an after hours hospital clinic since my gyno is an hour away. Of course, the doctor said it was nothing but he would do a swab anyway and get it cultured... of course with my beautiful luck.....this came back positive. Scared to death, my boyfriend of two years (monogomous the entire time) went and each had a type specific blood test. He was negative for HSV one and two. I was positive for one and negative for two. After a discussion with my doctor and two visits later, he decided we should double check this since culture swabs are so ridiculously rarely wrong. Once again, the same results, only positive for HSV 1 and negative for 2. My BF, of now three years had been with two virgins before me. I had had three partners before him, all very safe .........And after everything i discussed with my doctor about my ual habits and faithfulness towards each other ( we live together,and spend every waking moment together..... youll just have to trust me we havent cheated please) he believes the first culture swab was wrong. He has been my doctor for years and he is VERY logical and does NOT beat around the bush. The only time i could have been exposed to HSV 2 was two years prior with my previous boyfriend. (Who swears he negative, but, ya know....its possible he doesnt even know he might have it.) The antibodies would have certainly showed up by now. Especially since i was positive for 1 and not one of those rare cases where an individual makes no antibodies towards the HSV viruses. Boy o boy am i left in the dark. My gyno even prescribed me anti anxiety pills because since my positive culture( which is supposed to be the "gold standard" of all tests) I still cant settle with my two negative type specific blood tests and his reurance i am negative. I tend to get very blistery, tender small pimples from l shaving (folliculitus after shaving most probably exacerbated by my o so many bacterial infections that run in my family) so every time i experience anything in my nether regions, i am convinced it is . WTF? I feel crazy. Am I the only person on the planet who has experienced some type of one in a a million false positive cultures or am i a victim of human error in the lab? Just very curious if anyone has experienced ANYthing like the above. And if you actually finished reading this...........you are awesome. In advance, i appreciate your time and effort.
